Robert A. Hyde

Mr. Robert A. “Bob” Hyde, Jr. of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Robert A. Hyde, Sr. and Lillian Sturdevant Hyde, was born on July 22, 1952 in Owego, New York. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in Greensburg, Kentucky after a long illness.

Bob served his country honorably for ten years in the United States Marine Corps.

After his time in the service, he worked a short time for The Concord Resort in Monticello, New York.

He was a plumber by trade, and started his own plumbing business named B&L Plumbing. He then went to work for 21 years at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, New York. He retired and moved to Greensburg in 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Maria L. Hyde of Greensburg, Kentucky.

Other survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law: Lisalotte and Willard Shepard, Bridget and Nick Wilcox, Bernadette and Tom Miller all of Damascus, Pennsylvania, and Donna and Roger Miller of Honesdale, Pennsylvania; 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one son: George A. Ruff and companion Lillian Bernas of Tawanda, Pennsylvania; brothers and sisters-in-law: Edward and Diana Hyde, Gorden and Bonnie Hyde, and Charlie Hyde; one sister: Roberta Hyde; plus several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob was a wonderful husband, father and Grampa. He was a good friend to all those he knew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Alvin D. Ruff, Jr.; one grandson: Zevrix Hyde; one sister: Myrtle Donnelly; and one brother: George Hyde.

In honoring the wishes of Mr. Hyde, cremation was chosen by the family. Burial will take place at a later date in New York.
