Mr. Bobby Glenn Landis of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Shively and Grace Beatrice Squires Landis, was born on December 20, 1939 in Green County, Kentucky. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at his residence having attained the age of 84 years, ten months and two days.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Fry Baptist Church. Bobby was past Sunday School Superintendent and enjoyed teaching Sunday School.
He was a former employee of Gates Rubber. Early to rise, Bobby delivered the Courier Journal to homes in Green County for over 36 years. He was a former Greensburg City Councilman and a lifelong farmer. As an avid fan of the University of Kentucky and the Cincinnati Reds, he hardly ever missed watching a game. You could always count on him to lend a helping hand. Bobby loved his family and was affectionately known as “Papaw.”
He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Wilma Handy Landis, having united in marriage on July 23, 1959.
Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Machelle and Tony Corbin of Greensburg; two sons and daughters-in-law: Rodney Landis and fiancé Cindy Thomas, and Glen and Gwen Landis all of Greensburg; grandchildren: Christyn and Courtney Landis, Terra and Clint Bale, Isaac Landis and fiancé Lisa Turner, Bobby Landis III and companion McCall Gilpin, Brittany and Kurt Winter, Tonya Corbin Collin and Alesha Corbin; great-grandchildren: Hudson Bale, James Corbin, Autumn Winter, Matthew Corbin, Summer Winter, Lakelynn Marcum, Wylder Bale, Delilah Landis, Hunter Corbin, and Lenni Bea Landis; one brother and sister-in-law: Donnie “Smokey” and Tammy Landis of Greensburg; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katye Landis.
The funeral services for Mr. Bobby Landis will be conducted at 11 A.M., Central Time, on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Gupton-Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the Fry Cemetery. Bro. Larry Wisdom and Bro. Jared Ervin officiating.
Visitation is requested on Friday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, and after 7 A.M. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to be made in the form of donations to the Fry Cemetery Fund or the American Cancer Society, both of which can be made at the funeral home.
