Betty Jo Brandon

In accordance with God’s plan and promises, Betty Curry Brandon was called home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Betty passed peacefully at her home in Fayetteville, North Carolina with family at her side.

 

Betty was born on October 18, 1933 in Exie, Kentucky to Noah Marvin and Mandy Bird (Young) Curry. She graduated from Greensburg High School on May 15, 1952 and wed the love of her life, her soulmate, Thomas Allen Brandon the following day on May 16, 1952 at Greasy Creek Baptist Church in Exie. To this union were born two children, Loyd Gregory Brandon and Susan Lynn Brandon. “Tommy” preceded Betty to their eternal home on April 14, 1998.

 

Tom joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and their military travels took them to Louisiana, France, California, and Texas before returning home to Kentucky where Betty retired from Sears Roebuck & Co in Elizabethtown. 

 

In 1995, Tom and Betty moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona to enjoy retirement with their grandchildren. Following Tom’s passing, Betty moved to Fayetteville, NC with her children in 2005.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is predeceased by four sisters and six brothers Vernon Curry, Gracie Burns, Veotra Warf, Garvis Curry, Gorman Curry, Jeannette Fleitz, Virginia Curry, James Freeman Curry, Wendell Curry, and Milton Curry. She was also preceded in death by grandson, Ryan William Brandon.

 

Betty is survived by her children Greg (Nancy) Brandon and Susan (Brian) Brown of Fayetteville, NC; her grandchildren David (Cassie) Levitt, Sierra Vista, AZ, Amanda Brandon, Columbus, GA, and Kaitlyn (Derek) Hammond, Pinebluff, NC;  and four great grandchildren Emma Jo Levitt, Sophia Marie Brandon, Sedona James Hammond, and Rowan Clay Hammond.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, 1:00 pm (central time) at Greasy Creek Baptist Church in Exie with Brother Wilburn Bonta officiating. A committal service will immediately follow the service at Greasy Creek Cemetery. Gupton - Landrum Funeral Home in Greensburg is in charge of the arrangements.
